Depression can hook anyone. We get caught in the grip of darkness and it can feel impossible to escape; as if we're being sucked under by the strong grip of quicksand. Thankfully, scripture talks about depression and despair often. Even Jesus, God wrapped in flesh, had moments of despair—such as in the garden. Scripture records Jesus often withdrew to be alone. We also read that Jesus was familiar with grief and pain! Jesus understands our dark moments...but he also leads us out of it.

HEBREWS 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
JOHN 3:16-18 For this is how much God loved the world – he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life. God did not send his Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it! So now there is no longer any condemnation for those who believe in him… [TPT]

What good news! Jesus (Yeshua) is THE Light. Society speaks often of being a light or the "light" within us. But what is the source? There is "light" that is actually dark.(Read Luke 11:33-36). ISAIAH 53:2-6 He was not well-formed or especially handsome; we saw him, but his appearance did not attract us.
People despised and avoided him, a man of pains, well acquainted with illness.
Like someone from whom people turn their faces, he was despised; we did not value him.
In fact, it was our diseases he bore, our pains from which he suffered; yet we regarded him as punished, stricken and afflicted by God.
But he was wounded because of our crimes, crushed because of our sins; the disciplining that makes us whole fell on him,
and by his bruises we are healed.
We all, like sheep, went astray; we turned, each one, to his own way; yet Adonai laid on him the guilt of all of us. [CJB]
1 PETER 2:4-5 So keep coming to him who is the Living Stone-though he was rejected and discarded by men but chosen by God and is priceless in God’s sight. Come and be his “living stones” who are continually being assembled into a sanctuary for God. [TPT]
Yes and Amen! Yeshua is my haven and my Living Stone. I have had a taste of the goodness of the Lord and I love it! I'll take His goodness over my past, pain, rejection, or disappointments. His goodness is too good to continue to swim in the swamp of victimhood. The only story I feel compelled to tell anymore is the goodness and kindness of God.
