There's a good, healthy fear versus types of fear that cause us harm or lead us in the wrong directions. For example, the Fear of God versus the Fear of Man. For me, sometimes it's hard to grasp what exactly the fear of God is. Below are some passages that, I believe, define the Fear of God.

PROVERBS 9:10 [GNV] The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord,

PSALM 111:10 [GNV] The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord: all they that observe them, have good understanding: his praise endureth forever.

Psalm 78:32-37 Yet in spite of all this, they [Israel] kept right on sinning. Even when they saw God’s marvels, they refused to believe God could care for them. So God cut their lives short with sudden disaster, with nothing to show for their lives but fear and failure. When He cared for them they ignored Him, but when He began to kill them, ending their lives in a moment, they came running back to God, pleading for mercy. They remembered that God, the Mighty One, was their strong protector, the Hero-God who would come to their rescue. But their repentance lasted only as long as they were in danger; they lied through their teeth to the true God of Covenant. PSALM 81:8-10 Listen to me, my dear people. For I’m warning you, and you’d better listen well! For I hold something against you. Don’t ever be guilty of worshiping any other god but me. I am your only God, the living God. [TPT]

PSALM 119:143 Trouble and anguish have found me out, but your commandments are my delight. [ESV]

PSALM 34:7 The angel of the Lord camps around those who fear Him, and delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. O, fear the Lord, you His saints; for the ones who fear Him will not be in need. [MEV]

JEREMIAH 2:19 [CJB] Your onw wickedness will correct you, your own blackslidings will convict you; you will know and see how bad and bitter it was to abandon ADONAI your God, and how fear of me is not in you, says Adonai ELOHIM-Tzva’ot.

JEREMIAH 2:27 [CJB] …they have turned their backs to me instead of their faces.

JEREMIAH 3:5 [CJB] …you keep doing evil things, you just do whatever you want.
